Rockland County Bar Association

Our slogan is Promoting equal access to justice and greater understanding of the law” The Rockland County Bar Association is a professional membership association for attorneys who either live and/or work in Rockland County.  First and foremost we provide our attorney members with information, support and the opportunity to learn, share and socialize with their colleagues in the Rockland County legal community.  The RCBA is a certified provider of Continuing Legal Education programs (CLE’s), and we offer other programs of an educational nature to our members.  We share information on hot topics and issues of relevance to attorneys, via our monthly e-newsletter (Newsbrief), and via email.  We have 24 active Committees focused on 24 different areas of law, including Family Law, Criminal Law, Immigration, Elder Law and Real Estate, just to name a few.  We hold two major annual dinner events each year.  We give several annual awards in recognition of professional and community contributions, and we offer opportunities for informal socializing for our members.

One of the primary services we offer to the Public is our Lawyer Referral Service (LRS), which matches highly qualified attorneys with people in need of legal assistance.  The RCBA is also the administrator of the Assigned Counsel Plan (serving indigent clients) for the County of Rockland.  We support and partner with local community organizations, including Catholic Charities Community Services of Rockland on immigration issues, and our local public high schools with our Rockland Mock Trial Competition.  Other programs include Law Day, a celebration of the importance of law in our Democracy, and an annual Memorial Ceremony held to honor deceased local attorneys and their families.

Mission:

To maintain the dignity of the profession of law, and increase its usefulness in promoting the development of law; the due administration of justice; and the mutual improvement and social intercourse of its members, under the restrictions and regulations established in its By-laws.

The RCBA has been guided since 1893 by a long series of talented, committed, energetic and dedicated officers, board members and members.

Our Association will celebrate 130 years of service to attorneys and the public in 2023.
